SCRHA Executive Director Discusses Bill to Mandate Acceptance of Pets

He outlines how this one-size-fits-all approach undermines property owners’ autonomy and could create significant challenges for both tenants and landlords.

City of Carlsbad Still Eyeing Multifamily Smoking Ban
As SCRHA reported earlier this year, the Carlsbad City Council directed city staff to draft a Multifamily Non-Smoking Ordinance. SCRHA has long contended that these ordinances are unnecessary and turn housing providing into the smoking police. SCRHA reviewed an initial draft provided to stakeholders and responded with significant comments and concerns. No new draft has been provided as of yet, however, the draft ordinance could come forward as soon as June 25. SCRHA will keep members updated.
