San Diego City Council to Vote Sewer and Water Rate Increase This September
The San Diego City Council is scheduled to vote on a multi-year increase to Sewer rates along with a water rate increase this September 21, 2021. Single-family homes could see a substantial increase while multifamily, commercial, and industrial will see a decrease in sewer rates over the next few years.
If adopted,
- Sewer rates will rise 5% and by 3% for drinking water beginning January 1, 2022
- Rates will increase another 4% in 2023 and 2024 each year
- Rates will increase 3% each year in 2025 and 2026
San Diego’s Public Utilities Department is presently holding community workshops and seeking public feedback on the proposal. San Diego property owners are asked to visit the Department’s website for more information. The site contains resources such as the Department’s Cost of Service Study, flyers in multiple languages explaining the proposal, information on how to register to receive notification for scheduled workshops in your community, as well as how to submit feedback or protest forms to the City.
