SCRHA is hosting two more town halls to educate the industry about Proposition 33, the statewide ballot measure that seeks to expand rent control throughout California. Both events feature a panel of speakers who will go over the various impacts of expanded rent control on the housing market.

Carlsbad Approves Multifamily Smoking Ordinance
The Carlsbad City Council approved a “Smoke-Free Multi-Family Housing Ordinance” this past Tuesday. The vote at the second reading of the ordinance was the same as the first vote, 4-1, with Councilmember Burkholder the lone no vote. Enforcement of the ordinance is to begin January 1, 2025. The city has promised a webpage with resources to help housing providers navigate responsibilities. SCRHA will monitor the city’s efforts and create forms to help members with 3 or more units in Carlsbad comply. Read more.
Leave No Veteran Homeless
Housing providers, the County needs your help supporting veterans! Enhanced incentives to rent to voucher holding veterans include up to $2,500 leasing bonus, up to two months' rent security deposit and a customer service rep. Visit NoVeteranHomeless.org to submit a landlord interest form.
