SCRHA Endorsed Candidates Advance to November General Election
SCRHA is excited to report that all the candidates endorsed thus far are moving forward to the general election. In the race for the 80th District Assembly seat, SCRHA endorsed David Alvarez to fill the seat vacated by Lorena Gonzalez. He won the special election to serve out the remainder of Gonzalez’ term and will also move on to the general election to fill the seat’s next term. In the City of San Diego, the District 2 race had the most crowded field with 6 candidates. SCRHA endorsed Jennifer Campbell who will move on to the November general and likely face Linda Lukacs. SCRHA will be releasing additional endorsements in the coming months. The Registrar of Voters estimates there are 250,000 ballots still to be counted and will provide another update today at 5:00 p.m. Click here to see the full election results.
County of San Diego Hosting Webinar on Multi-family/Commercial Recycling – June 15
Join the County of San Diego for a virtual meeting regarding recycling requirements for commercial businesses and multi-family complexes (5+ units) located in unincorporated county areas. They will be reviewing state and local recycling laws applicable to businesses and multi-family complexes in the unincorporated county, compliance options, and the future rollout of recycling services by County franchise waste and recycling haulers. Local Housing Authorities Continue to Provide “Landlord” Incentives
- County of San Diego: The County is providing various incentives to housing providers who participate in certain programs. The incentives are available for leases executed before June 30, 2022.
- City of San Diego: The San Diego Housing Commission continues to provide incentives for renting to voucher holders of various types.
- Imperial Valley: The Imperial Valley Housing Authority is offering incentives when renting to those with Emergency Housing Vouchers.
San Diego Housing Commission to Resume Physical Section 8 Inspections
With pandemic restrictions behind us, the San Diego Housing Commission plans to resume physical inspections in the coming months. The traditional bi-annual inspection process will resume on August 1. Some inspections, including pre-inspections, will resume in mid-July. Learn more about inspections.
