Help SCRHA Stop AB 2785
AB 2785 will be heard in the Assembly Judiciary Committee on Tuesday, April 2. This bill would force ALL rental housing providers to deposit a tenant’s security deposit into an interest-bearing account with a bank or financial institution (within 30 days of receipt) and would require that the security deposit be returned with interest at the end of the lease term. In addition, AB 2785 strictly limits the amount of applicant screening fees by “capping” screening fees at just $50, which is below the currently allowed amount under state law and does not allow for annual increases to keep pace with inflation. It would also require refunding of screening fees if an applicant fails to qualify. Click here to learn more and take action!
