Oceanside Councilmembers Propose Rent Control & Tenant Protections
At a press conference earlier this week, Oceanside Vice Mayor Eric Joyce and Councilmember Jimmy Figueroa announced they will be proposing an ordinance to address stricter rent caps and additional tenant protections. SCRHA is disappointed in the lack of outreach to the industry and very concerned with making landlords responsible for reducing homelessness. SCRHA Asks for Member Support for Anti-Squatting Bill
SCRHA sent out an Action Alert recently asking members to make phone calls in support of SB 448 (Umberg) – The Trespassing Response and Remedies Act. This bill will make it easier for property owners and law enforcement to remove trespassers. Housing providers may learn more and join the coalition at stoptrespassing.org/. National City Eyeing Sewer Rate Increase
At the March 4 Council Meeting, the National City Council accepted a report from city staff and moved forward with noticing for a sewer rate increase to be heard on May 6. Property owners should have received by now written notice about the hearing and instructions on how to submit a protest. Read the study here.
