NAA Joins Coalition Warning Against FHFA Rent Control
Eighteen associations representing housing providers, lenders and residents recently sent a letter to Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director Sandra Thompson warning that mandatory rent control and rent stabilization policies will increase rents, reduce the capital needed to boost the supply of housing and ultimately hurt current and future renters. Legislature Returns from Recess on Monday - Updates to Come!
SCRHA is preparing for State Senators and Assemblymembers to return from their summer recess and take up remaining bills. SCRHA is still working hard to stop several bills of concern. AB 12, which would limit security deposits to more than the equivalent on one month’s rent, is eligible to be taken up on the Senate Floor. SB 567, the bill to alter AB 1482, and SB 267, which would prohibit credit screening for voucher holders, are both currently in Assembly Appropriations.
