County to Consider Ordinance on Predatory Practices Targeting Rental Housing Providers
On Tuesday, March 11, at the 9:00 AM hearing, the San Diego County Board of Supervisors will be considering an ordinance that will prohibit evictions and termination of tenancy for tenants facing economic hardship during declared emergencies unless a tenant is an imminent health and safety threat. While SCRHA understands the need to protect residents facing hardships (i.e., COVID-19, Floods, Fire) the ordinance presents significant concerns. It invalidates legally served termination notices that expire during the emergency, prohibits the execution of writs, and does not define a process for determining economic hardship. SCRHA will be sending an Action Alert in the near future. In the meantime, members may submit eComment on Item 12 or contact Supervisors directly.
Reminder: Beneficial Owners Reporting Requirements
Beneficial ownership reporting requirements are back in effect, with a new deadline of March 21, 2025, for most companies. FinCen will not issue fines until a forthcoming interim final rule becomes effective and the new relevant due dates in the interim final rule have passed. Click here for more information.
