SCRHA Continues Advocacy as Bill Deadline Looms
Thank you to all those who continue to help us with our grassroots advocacy on behalf of the industry. Despite all our efforts, AB 2216 (Haney), the bill to mandate rental housing providers accept pets, passed 43-8. SCRHA's staunch opposition and overwhelming input from members led to significant amendments. While other industry organizations have signaled they will no longer oppose the bill, SCRHA remains opposed until all amendments are in print and has had time to thoroughly review impacts on all members. We are also still working on AB 2347 (Kalra) which would further delay the eviction process by giving tenants additional time to respond to an unlawful detainer filing. Tomorrow, May 24, is the deadline for bills to get out of their house of origin. SCRHA will provide more updates as they become available.
